The mental affects of a diagnosis of cancer vary by the individual. Regardless, a regular exercise program will help you to battle these unwanted side effects. Exercise has been proven to increase energy, fight fatigue and help people to regain a feeling of wellness over time. There is also invaluable benefit to regaining control in your life. The empowerment that you get from setting and achieving goals that are within your control is worth its weight in gold. We evaluate your particular mindset and develop programs that you can perform at a pace that works for you. Our ultimate goal in this area is to give you something that improves your outlook on life.

In terms of the physical effects of your various cancer treatements, a well-designed exercise program gives you some control back over your body. Yes, some of the damage may have lasting effects, but progressively working to regain your pre-cancer flexibilty, balance, endurance, stability and strength are physical benefits that will carry over into every aspect of your post-cancer life. We approach this area very slowly and progressively. Your lifestyle will dictate how far we go in this area. It makes no sense to train you as an athlete if you are simply in need of regaining or keeping a general level of fitness. However, if your goal is to return to an athletic lifestyle, our sports training background will get definitely get you back on the field, court, rink or track. For most folks, simply being able to walk without the fear of falling is a major objective.

Physiologically, a well-designed exercise program will give your body a natural boost of healing power in terms of an elevated immune system through the body's improved oxygen carrying capacity and it's improved vascular system efficiency, which is used to remove waste products from your body and attack foreign bodies in the blood and organs. In addition, improving your overall strength positively effects bone mineral density, which is extremely important in fighting advancement of the disease. An obvious benefit to participation in a well-designed fitness program is body fat management or reduction. In some breast cancer patients, reducing body fat is very important as body fat is yet another source of estrogen. Our goal in this final area is to give you back the physiological tools to help your body fight your disease. This is perhaps the most important benefit of a well-designed fitness and wellness program. If you can't fight this disease with all of the weapons that you have in your personal arsenal, the rest is meaningless.
